Calibrated Chain - For Anchor Windlasses

Calibrated means that each link is manufactured to the same dimensions, within a given tolerance. For any chain that runs through a winch, pocket wheel or windlass using the correct pitch is critical and only Calibrated Chain should be used. 

When purchasing a new boat or replacing an anchor chain, selecting a calibrated chain that matches your windlass is essential for a proper fit. Most windlasses require chain manufactured to one of two standards: 

Finish - Hot Dipped Galvanised

• DIN 766: Established by the German Institute for Standardization, this standard applies to calibrated and tested Grade 3 material chains.

• ISO 4565: Also known as EN 24565 or BS 7160, this international standard specifically covers anchor chains for small watercraft.
